Detect Spyware
Spywares are those secret agents which sit inside the complicated organs of your computer (without your knowledge), and send out information about your surfing behavior (again, you never come to know about this). So, something is happening inside your PC, and you the owner, don't know about it, and worst, you can't control this outflow of information. DO a small experiment here - just open three four browser windows and open as many different search engines or web sites. Once all the sites have been opened, double click on your ISP connection icon (which shows inflow and outflow of data). Even when all of your windows have become static, you will possibly find some outgoing activity through this data transfer window. If you can find something going out, it is a clear signal of some spyware sitting on your computer.
It is very important to detect these tiny applications which may prove to be extremely detrimental to not only your computer's health but your financial health too. Proper detection (and timely too) of spywares, and their subsequent removal is very important for a regular web surfer. There are many approaches and techniques available on the net to just achieve this.
These strategies can be put into two classes - one is that which finds something unusual happening on your PC, and term it as spyware. Anther technique is to build a database of known spywares, and check your computer vis a vis this database. Thus, anything belonging to this database is found on your computer while scanning, it is termed as spyware.
Detection of spyware is not a very easy ball game. Its the same old police thief story. Thieves keep on coming with novel ways to steal things, and police have to rise to the occasion, and beat the conmen in their own game, and court. Same applied to virus detection, and ditto for spyware. Software developers keep on coming with ingenuous ways to install spyware on your system, and your police (spyware detectors) have to perpetually keep on fighting this war.
You have also to be careful when selecting a spyware detector. The spyware detectors space is full of application ready to pounce on you and con you in the process. There are many applications which will show some fake results about your computer, and then charge you money to 'remove' those non-existing spywares. This conning doesn't stop here. In fact, after paying to them, and having a 'cleaning' of your computer, you will find that your computer now had more number of parasites than earlier. Be aware. Try to avoid such tricks. We are not trying to say that all those applications out there are trying to con you, but its better to be beware of such practices on the net.
