Spyware cleaning

Spyware cleaning means getting rid of spyware from your computer. Something which seems very easy to achieve, but found difficult to do so. Spyware cleaning has become an industry in itself, large enough to attract the attention of the grand daddy of all software - Microsoft. Even large corporations like McAfee in the field of anti virus technology, have taken notice of this geometrically multiplying menace called spyware.

Let's first of all have a look at the variety of spyware that can make your computer their residential place - these are spyware, adware, browser hijackers, keyboard loggers, thiefwares, snoopwares, drug dealerwares, etc. Their names vary, but their sole objective is to somehow create trouble to your computing activities.

Spywares, thiefwares, etc manage to send important information about your web behavior and critical data to some unknown server. Some later day, you would be surprised (shocked!) to check your credit card statement for the reason that it had been used without you knowing it. Reason - some nasty spyware has sent your credit or debit card information to some person with all malafied intentions. Lesser impact heinous evil is sending information about the sites visited by you, only to expose you to products relevant to your area of interest. Browser hijackers are of two types - either your home page is hijacked or each time you search for something on the net, you are directed to a site 'not' of your choice.

Needless to mention, it is very important to clean your computers from spywares. There are heaps of software applications available claiming easy, assured and fast cleaning of your PC from malicious pieces of applications like spywares. Cleaning is usually divided into a three step process - detection, selection and cleaning.

Spyware detection phase involves finding spywares from the available database of definitions, and ensuring its place of residence on your system. Detection of spywares encompasses your hard disks, memory areas, cache areas, and registry areas.

Once a spyware is detected, its description is presented to you in a matrix format. Some cleaning software applications get you the whole information about the detected spyware on your system. This information may include the area of residence, its effect, activities and the choice whether you would like to remove this or not.

Once you have selected all those pieces of spyware which are to be removed, the spyware cleaner will clean your system. Your system is now clean from all the garbage called spyware. However this shouldn't be taken as a guarantee that the same will not emerge on your system again in future.

Cleaning is generally done against the available database of spyware (like virus). Once a spyware (or scumware) is found on your system, it is immediately treated as spyware. However, such spyware cleaners don't stand much of a chance for ever coming new spyware. So it becomes necessary to all the time keep on updating your spyware definitions file (or database). If you fail to frequently update this, your spyware cleaner may not be effective against new spyware
