[29] Pin the front edge of the lining over the facing and hem. Finish the back of the neck over the shoulder seam. Try the coat on and adjust the lower edge of the lining. Pin and baste a few inches from the lower edge. Turn up the lower edge of the lining about y% inch shorter than the coat and slip-stitch to the coat. Pin the sleeve lining into the sleeve; turn under the top of the sleeve and pin. Slip-stitch. Turn lining under at lower edge of sleeve, pin and slip-stitch. 17. Shrinking and Pressing Most materials require some sort of preparation before being cut. It is always a good plan to ask the salesperson how the piece of fabric should be treated. To shrink wool, place a damp cloth over the fabric and press. How­ever, many yardgoods departments will shrink wool for you. Be sure to inquire about this-it will, naturally, save you much work. Cotton and linen may be shrunk by covering with water without un­folding. Without wringing out, hang on a clean line to dry, being careful not to stretch the material out of shape.
