Mark all perforations with tailor's chalk and cut all the notches.
Baste darts and underarm seams, then baste the shoulder seams.
Pin and baste the sleeves and set in the armholes.
Try on and make any necessary alterations.
Remove sleeves and stitch the darts and seams. Remove the bast-
ings and press. If the coat is unlined, finish the seams.
Join the collar and coat.
If bound buttonholes are used, make them at this point. If they
are to be tailored, they should be made last of all except for pressing.
Turn up the hem of the coat to the desired length and catch-stitch
to the coat. Pin the facing flat and finish against the coat in the same
manner as the hem.
Make the welt, bound, or patch pockets.
Stitch the sleeves and set into the armholes. Use plenty of pins
and basting.
Cut the lining from the coat pattern. Cut the back slightly larger.
Stitch the underarm seams and pin to the underarm seams of the
coat. Baste.
Baste the lining around the armhole and across the back slightly
below the shoulder.
