[14] [15] Sleeves, Cuffs & Collars SLEEVES Sleeves are set into the dress after the shoulder seams and side seams of the garment are joined (Fig. 28). The seam of the sleeve is usually joined before attaching to the dress. While setting in the sleeve, hold the sleeve toward you so that the ease or fullness can be distributed evenly. Match notches carefully and be sure the top of the sleeve is in line with the shoulder seam. It is sometimes well to run a thread around the top of the sleeve before setting it in. This prevents stretching, and aids in easing if that is necessary. Pin freely, putting the pins in at right angles with the edge of the sleeve (Fig. 29). Baste and stitch.
