The mark­ings are very much the same for all makes of patterns. Any small differ­ences will not be confusing if the directions are read carefully, since the pattern will explain the purpose and use of the markings. Notches, used at seam edges to show edges which are to be joined. Edges marked with notches are put together with the corresponding notches matching.
