It saves time and money to buy good patterns, and the results will be ever so much more satisfactory. The first step in using a pattern is to read the directions carefully. These directions tell how to place the pattern on the material for cutting, and give each step in assembling the garment. The instructions are not generalized comments on cutting and alterations, but are written and illustrated for the particular pattern. They are put there so you can easily put the garment together with all the finish and style of the original model from which the pattern was made. All the details are in the same order used for making the model garment, from the laying out of the pieces to the final finishings.
