When a certain fabric is recommended, it means that this material was carefully studied, on a living model, to be sure that the effect would be correct. A heavier fabric than the one recommended would lead to a bulkiness which would spoil the style. A lighter fabric would appear too flimsy. Do not, therefore, use any materials other than the ones listed on the pattern. If the material is chosen first, be sure it is listed on the pattern finally de­cided upon. Of course, it is best to buy the pattern before selecting the material. [8] Always be sure that you have the necessary number of yards of material required for the pattern. This is marked plainly on the envelope containing the pattern. Patterns come in a number of sizes depending on the bust and hip measurements.
