Making A Beautiful Baby Blanket
It is not difficult to make a beautiful baby blanket that you will be proud to give as a gift. You need a few basic supplies and you will be set!
Supply List For A Fleece Baby Blanket
*Fleece fabric of your choice (1-2 yards) If you can, visit a reputable fabric website or your local fabric store to find high quality polar fleece. Malden Mills polar fleece is said to be a good brand.
*Good, sharp scissors
Instructions
To make this simple no-sew fleece baby blanket, first decide what size you want the blanket to be. Then cut out a 3 or 4 inch square at each corner. Then, to make fun fringe that a baby will love to play with, cut every ½ inch all the way down the sides of the blanket. Your cuts should line up with those first squares you made.
After you have the fringe cut, you can either leave it like it is or make it even prettier. You can make a two-tone baby blanket by doing the previous steps again in a contrasting fabric. Make sure the size and number of strips of fringe are exactly the same. Now, you knot the strips of fringe together at the base, all the way around.
Use the color wheel to achieve your desired effect. Complementary colors like yellow with purple or blue with orange give you the most contrast for a baby blanket, while colors next to each other on the wheel like blue and green also look good. If you find a cute fleece print, choose a highlight color from the print to be the reverse side of your baby blanket.
Voila! Now you have a soft, cozy baby blanket made from the heart that your friends and their baby will treasure.
