Baby’s First Birthday Bash
You and your baby both made it! He’s a year old! It’s time to celebrate with a big-boy first birthday bash for your baby. For a baby bash to remember, try these simple but fun ideas.
Make the baby bash a small event. You don’t want to overwhelm your baby with too many guests. Keep the decorating simple and colorful for your baby to enjoy.
Remember, your house needs to be just as childproofed as ever. Don’t let your baby bash be ruined by accidents that could have been prevented. Balloons, for instance, are terrible choking hazards. Don’t even have them in the house. Use other items to decorate with.
If your baby has “friends” his own age, you can invite them (and their parents, of course) to the bash. Make a separate child-proof area for the babies to play in while the parents socialize in an adjacent room. Give the babies fun items to play music with like plastic containers and wooden spoons. This will avoid any babies bashing each other over new toys!
Make sure the birthday boy or girl has a special hat and outfit for the baby bash. Of course, it needs to be something that is easily washable, just in case you decide to give your baby his first fistful of birthday cake!
When it comes to opening gifts, you would be wise to have your baby open just a few items from family and friends. This baby bash is not the time to teach valuable lessons about sharing and how to say thank you. Quietly put the other gifts away and your baby will just assume they have always been in the house when you get them out one day.
Have a fantastic baby bash! Take lots of pictures and give yourself a big pat on the back, Mom and Dad. You deserve it!
